Celery Seed (Apium graveolens)
Medieval magicians apparently filled their shoes with celery seeds in the hopes that this would help them to fly. That didn't exactly work, but celery seed does have an astonishing range of uses that defies its ordinary appearance in your grandmother's coleslaw recipe.
